The home at 107 Bennett Street was built cir. 1870 in the town of Mt. Pleasant. According to current tax records the home has approximately 2801 square feet of living space with 5 bedroom and 3 baths. It is know as the McCormick House. The lot was owned by the Hamlin family in 1860 and may have been built by that family according to information contained in the 1984 historic survey of the Old Village. However , the same survey indicated that the home "is believed to be built by Henry Laurens Pinckney McCormick." The house was occupied by members of this family in the 1870's and 1880's. McCormick (1831-1894) was the owner of the Mt. Pleasant Ferry Company. The home is not listed on the 1860 map, but does appear on the 1893 map of Mt. Pleasant.
